We are thrilled to announce the dates for this fall’s in-person IG Fabricator Workshop which will take place November 3-5, at the Intertek facility in Plano, TX. This is a popular industry workshop, but because it is such an interactive event where individuals must be in close proximity to get the full experience, it was not feasible to host in 2020. But, now it’s back!

Since its launch in 2016, the IG Fabricator Workshop has hosted more than 300 practitioners of the IG industry, leading them through the most important aspects of fabricating and testing IG units. Participants have continued to provide positive reviews of the workshops describing it as “awesome” and raving about the effectiveness of the real-life application hands-on activities.

The workshop, led by industry experts, features a mix of classroom education with the majority of time spent on hands-on experiences to discover best practices for cleaning, cutting and handling glass, desiccants, sealants, gas fill, frost point and much more. The final segment of the workshop spends a few hours focusing on failure investigation.

Below are the typical modules for the workshop:

  • Station 1: Frost Point Testing
  • Station 2: Volatile Fog
  • Station 3: Gas Filling and Measurement
  • Station 4: Sealant Adhesion Butterfly Test
  • Station 5: Sealant Mix Test / Desiccant Testing
  • Station 6: Glass Cutting and Washing
  • Station 7: Forensic Investigation of IGU Failures

In more IG Fabricators Workshop news, FGIA will be extending the reach of this event by addressing the topics covered in the annual workshop through a new online video series. Comprised of short segments available on-demand via a six-month paid subscription, this new video series provides an option not just for those who will miss the workshop this year, but also for those who might not have the opportunity to attend the event in person in the future. It is a great training tool for plant personnel, especially QC staff, and newer employees as well as industry veterans. Watch for details about the release of the online video series later this year.

We look forward to your participation at this year’s workshop. Save the date for November 3-5! Visit FGIAonline.org/IGworkshop for more details.
